Why In news?
- The Scientists in Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala had developed few new equipment for the treatments of covid 19.
Acrylosorb:
- Acrylosorb is the equipment to collect body fluids of patients and dispose it safely.
- Under the system, suction canisters which are spill-proof and that can be sealed after use, is used to collect liquid respiratory secretions from patients.
- There is no risk of re-contamination as the waste is absorbed by the equipment itself and also it can handle more liquid waste at a time.
Bubble helmet:
- Bubble helmet is an alternative option for the traditional oxygen masks. Bubble helmet completely covers the head of the patient and will be connected through a special collar on it.
- This device will help the patient to overcome breathing problems and avoid using ventilator facility.
