Relevant for UPSC Prelims 2026 Question Paper (GS, CSAT))

MY PREDICTION

Considering, Over dependence of UPSC Aspirant on Pattern Set by Coching Institutions, The analytical nature of the paper, High uncertainty among aspirants, Increased conceptual depth,
Rise of statement-based questions, Reduced predictability, the expected cut-off is likely to remain comparatively lower.

EXPECTED CUT-OFF RANGE

General : Around 58-63
EWS : 54-60
OBC : 53-59
SC : 46-52
ST : 42-48

Why the Cut-off May Decline in CSE 2026

1. Unpredictable Over dependence of UPSC Aspirant on Pattern Set by Coaching Institutions Mock Test Series,
2. Traditional scoring areas such as Polity and Geography witnessed substantial decline.
2. Rise of Applied Questions – Questions demanded conceptual application instead of direct factual recall.
3. Heavy Statement-Based Framing – Multiple statement-type questions increased the probability of negative marking.
4. Ancient History & Culture Dominance – Many aspirants found culture-oriented questions difficult and unconventional.
5. Expansion of Science & Technology – Questions based on emerging technologies created uncertainty among candidates from Humanities Background
6. Very few Questions directly from Past One Year Current Affairs Booklets provided by Coaching Institutions
