Why skilling is important?

- Skill and attitude enable the youth to make critical decisions, solve problem, develop new things and ultimately become strong ambassadors and asset for the organization Skilling India is a flagship program of the government to create 500 million skilled manpower by 2020.
What is Suryamitra Program?
- National Institute of solar energy is assigned with the responsibility to execute various skill development programs in the field of renewable energy technology.
- NISE is conducting the Suryamitra training program to provide skilled technicians for installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
- It is to provide the employability and entrepreneurship to rural and urban youth and women.
How crucial is the program?
- It is a part of the Make in India.
- It is a solar Photovoltaic technician course which has been designed to develop skilled and employable workforce catering to the needs of the industry and country.
- The program is crucial as it combines the emerging skill with meeting the Paris agreement goal of increasing the renewable energy share in the energy mix.
What are the other features of the program?
- Suryamitra mobile app has been launched to connect suryamitras with the entrepreneurship and larger section of society.
- It is a residential program which 100 percent funded by Govt of India and implemented by NISE across the country.
- It is done in collaboration with the state nodal agencies.
- Suryamitra Skill Development Programs are sponsored by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
