Mahajan Manoj Satyawan of Pune has finally conquered Civil Services Examination 2018 and secured 125th rank.
Mahajan Manoj Satyawan was not able to clear the Civil Services Exam in his first attempt in 2016 and secured AIR 903. After this, he worked as an Assistant Security Commissioner.
He says, “In 2015, it was my first attempt and I did not appear for prelims. In 2016, I got through prelims at OBC cut off marks and obtained the 903rd rank. The following year, 2017, I was able to clear prelims with large margin but in the final list did not secure a place.”
But in 2018, Mahajan Manoj Satyawan finally utilized all of his strategies and secured 125th rank.
Study Background
Manoj has pursued Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication from the College of Engineering, Pune. While studying at college, he decided to go for UPSC and started preparing from his third year of engineering itself.
As a result, he joined comprehensive courses and gained a lot of guidance.
Manoj says, “Self-study and motivation are very much required. There are lots of ups and down while appearing for these kinds of exams but one must not stop motivating himself.”
He advises future aspirants that they must have a Backup plan. It is very crucial to go for something else; if you know you have made the wrong choices.”
Cracking the Exam
As Mahajan Manoj Satyawan gave four attempts and then finally succeeded in CSE 2018. Over these years, he understood the basis and strategy that needs to be applied when giving the exam.

Then finally, in 2018, he knew how to face it and got 125th rank.

- Analyze the book list and understand – how to utilize the information.
- These examinations are to test the utilization of your knowledge and not just to check it.
- Analyze the Last five yrs papers.
- Last but not least, read like a beginner, second reading – underline and solve exercises.
