  • Total women: Through this occasion, a total of 7 women were get a chance to expose their inspiring successful story
  • Shared on: PM Modi shared the success story of Vijaya Pawar on the occasion of International women’s day (March 8).
  • Video telecast: PM Modi shared about her inspiring journey through a video presentation – about how she working in the Banjara handicraft field for the last two decades and how she became a dedicated leader and entrepreneur.
  • Use: With this step, it will be useful in promoting Gormati art and also provided with financial assistance.

About Vijaya Pawar:

  • She belongs to Banjara community who were in the Maharashtra’s Beed district.
  • Vijaya narrated her story and familiarise the world with Gormati art.
  • Also she showcased how she encouraged thousands of women artisans working with 90 self-help groups (SHGs) under her guidance.

Banjara community:

  • Other names: They are a Nomadic Tribe also known as Laman, Lambadi, and Banjari.
  • Habitat: They have a origin in the Marwar region of Rajasthan and distributed across the south Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
  • Language: They traditionally speak Lambadi / Gor Boli langauge.
  • Banjara art: This includes performance arts such as dance and music as well as folk and plastic arts such as rangoli, textile embroidery, tattooing and painting.
  • Festivals: The name of their festival is Teej during the month of August – a festival where the unmarried Banjara girls pray for a good groom.
  • Traditional dance: The traditional dance forms of the Banjaras – Fire dance and Chari dance.
  • Religion: This community believes in Hinduism.

  1. incompetent blog. you did not even tell what actually it is , a painting , music , embroidery art , dance , puppetry , sculptor art or something else. I would suggest you to wind up your useless blogs which are nothing but impotent and sterile pieces of information w.r.t. needs of civil services.
