- The first international conference on ‘Water, Environment and Climate Change: Knowledge Sharing and Partnership’ has started in Kathmandu.
- The conference was inaugurated by Nepal’s Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun who stressed upon the need of water security and said that it should be given the top priority.
The 3-day event is being organised by the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage under Government of Nepal in association with the Society of Public Health Engineers Nepal and Nepal Engineers Association - The impact of climate change is increasing with each passing day and is especially alarming for nations such as Nepal as its glaciers and snow capped mountains are melting. The sharing of knowledge and partnership between the participating nations could be key to create synergy among all those concerned.
- The basic objective of the conference is to bring together professionals, academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, government and non government institutions to discuss and deliberate on challenges, opportunities and strategies related to water and environmental issues.
- The conference is expected to witness participation from more than 100 international participants from 20 countries across the world including India.
- The event aims to provide an opportunity to various stake holders to discuss critical issues concerning environment and sustainable water resources management.
- On the occasion, an exhibition showcasing various products and technologies related to water security and environment conservation would be organised.
