By 2028, the Maharashtra government plans to introduce the CBSE curriculum in all of the state’s schools. The statement was made Monday during the state assembly’s two houses by Education Minister Dada Bhuse. Under NEP 2020, the transition from Class 1 will begin in 2025.

In 2026, Classes 2, 3, 4, and 6 will be introduced, followed by Classes 5, 7, 9, and 11 in 2027, and Classes 8, 10, and 12 in 2028. The introduction will be gradually extended to the other grades.

Textbooks for Class 1 are already being prepared. The new curriculum will emphasize ongoing and thorough evaluation rather than just final tests.

According to Bhuse, it will also assist students build their soft skills and prepare them for competitive tests.

Bhuse justified the choice, adding that the new books will emphasize technology while providing practical teaching.

The Education Minister ensured that the curriculum change would increase learning results and quality education.

The Maharashtra government’s action will guarantee that state-level schools follow the national education standards outlined in NEP 2020 and that pupils perform well on entrance tests.
