Education background
After completing his graduation, Shandilya achieved a commendable rank of AIR 1000 in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, he found himself at a crossroads, contemplating his future path. It was during this period of introspection that Shandilya realized his passion for civil services. He candidly shared, “I can’t be bored with the work that comes under the profile of an IAS officer. I can do this every day”.
Preparation Strategy
Shandilya’s journey in the UPSC CSE was fraught with challenges. In his first attempt in 2019, although not fully prepared, he missed the cut-off by a narrow margin. Undeterred, he worked harder with each subsequent attempt. He encountered new obstacles, from insufficient preparation to missteps in the choice of optional subjects. After three attempts in mechanical engineering, he switched to sociology optional, realizing it was his weak point. Destiny tested him again in 2022 when he couldn’t clear Prelims, but he persevered.

Aniket Shandilya’s consistent efforts paid off when he secured the 12th rank in the UPSC CSE 2023. His journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and determination.
