{"id":9576,"date":"2020-08-20T13:47:25","date_gmt":"2020-08-20T08:17:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=9576"},"modified":"2023-04-07T13:07:18","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T07:37:18","slug":"atal-ranking-of-institutions-on-innovation-achievements-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/atal-ranking-of-institutions-on-innovation-achievements-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements\u00a0 2020.\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements\u00a0 2020.<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Relevance: Prelims\/Mains: G.S paper II: Governance<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ndtv.com\/education\/cache-static\/media\/presets\/625X400\/presets\/860X430\/article_images\/2020\/8\/18\/Webp.net-resizeimage_5.webp\" alt=\"Atal Rankings ARIIA 2020 Announced, IIT Madras Best Institute, KIIT Best Private University\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Context:<\/strong> The Vice-President of India virtually announced Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements\u00a0 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More on the news:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ranking called upon researchers and scientists to pay greater attention to agriculture and come up with innovations to address the problems faced by farmers.<\/li>\n<li>This year,\u00a0<strong>a special category for higher educational institutions for women<\/strong>\u00a0has been introduced to encourage women and bring gender parity in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A National Research Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0(NRF) will be set up for invigorating innovation and research under the recently released Nation Education Policy (NEP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About ARIIA:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) is an initiative of\u00a0<strong>Ministry of Human Resource Development<\/strong>\u00a0(MHRD), Government of India.<\/li>\n<li>It aims to\u00a0<strong>systematically rank<\/strong>\u00a0all major higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to \u201cInnovation and Entrepreneurship Development\u201d amongst students and faculties.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Major Indicators for consideration<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Budget &amp; Funding Support.<\/li>\n<li>Infrastructure &amp; Facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Awareness, Promotions &amp; support for Idea Generation &amp; Innovation.<\/li>\n<li>Promotion &amp; Support for Entrepreneurship Development.<\/li>\n<li>Innovative Learning Methods &amp; Courses.<\/li>\n<li>Intellectual Property Generation, Technology Transfer &amp; Commercialization.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation in Governance of the Institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>To inspire Indian institutions<\/strong>\u00a0to reorient their mind-set and build ecosystems to encourage high quality research, innovation and entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To focus on the quality\u00a0<\/strong>(more than quantity) of innovations and will try to measure the real impact created by these innovations nationally and internationally.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To set tone and direction for institutions<\/strong>\u00a0for future development for making them globally competitive and in the forefront of innovation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<table cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>MHRD\u2019s Innovation Cell:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an attempt to make Innovation an integral part of the Higher Education System.<\/li>\n<li>It will ensure that various activities and hackathons pertaining to Innovation and entrepreneurship are taken forward at Higher Educational Institute level in a very systematic way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The 2020 ranking:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This year, ARIIA announcement included\u00a0<strong>classification of the institutes<\/strong>\u00a0into two broad categories and six sub categories.<\/li>\n<li>Among these,\u00a0<strong>IIT Madras<\/strong>\u00a0bagged the top position under the category of Institutes of National Importance, Central Universities, and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>For more such notes, Articles, News &amp;
