the\u00a0<strong>\u201cHousehold Social Consumption: Education\u201d report.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Highlights of the report:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/media\/2020\/7\/22\/7\/47\/55\/NSO_REPORT_ON_HOUSEHOLD_SOCIAL_CONSUMPTION-EDUCATION.jpg\" alt=\"The National Statistical Office (NSO) released a report on ...\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Sample size of the survey-\u00a0<\/b>A survey of 1.13 lakh households spread across over 8,000 villages and 6,000 urban blocks was undertaken between July 2017 and June 2018.\n<ul>\n<li>The study involved 1.52 lakh students across different levels of study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Accessibility to Schools-\u00a0<\/b>92.7% of the rural households have a<strong>\u00a0primary school within 1 km<\/strong>\u00a0as compared to 87.2% in urban areas.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>38% of the rural household<\/strong>\u00a0have<strong>\u00a0access to secondary school<\/strong>\u00a0as compared to 70% in the urban areas.<\/li>\n<li>Neighbourhood school at primary level is accessible in rural areas and the gross attendance ratio is also nearly 100% of boys and girls in rural as well as urban areas, which is a satisfactory trend.<\/li>\n<li>There is a<strong>\u00a0gap of accessibility at the secondary level<\/strong>\u00a0between rural and urban settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Digital Divides-<\/b>The\u00a0<strong>digital divide<\/strong>\u00a0between rural and urban households is huge and only 4% of the rural population has access to computers.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>15% of the surveyed population<\/strong>\u00a0in the rural cluster has\u00a0<strong>internet access<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0<strong>42% of the surveyed population<\/strong>\u00a0in the urban areas have access to the internet.<\/li>\n<li><strong>24% of the persons between aged 15-29 years<\/strong>\u00a0in rural areas are able to operate a computer as compared to 56% of the same age bracket of the urban population.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Expenditure Divides-<\/b>Annual average expenditure per student at secondary and senior secondary level in a rural household stands at Rs 5,856 and Rs 9,148 respectively and in urban households for the same classes expenditure stands at Rs 17,518 and Rs 23,832 respectively.\n<ul>\n<li>The average expenditure per student during an academic session for basic courses was nearly Rs 8,331 for general courses, Rs 50,307 for technical and professional courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Preference for Private and Public institutions-\u00a0<\/b>The majority of the urban households had shown a preference for private schools, and it\u2019s opposite for rural households as they prefer government schools.\n<ul>\n<li>76.1% of the rural children are attending a primary and middle school run by the government, and only\u00a0<strong>38% of the urban children are attending government<\/strong>\u00a0schools.<\/li>\n<li>For graduate and above studies,\u00a0<strong>49.7% of rural students are attending classes<\/strong>\u00a0in government institutions as compared to 41% of the urban counterparts in government institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><img decoding=\"async\" #ff0000;\"><b>About National Statistical Office (NSO):<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/image1.slideserve.com\/1599300\/government-of-india-l.jpg\" alt=\"PPT - STRATEGIES FOR DATA DISSEMINATION at Computer Centre ...\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u00a0<strong>coordinates the statistical activities in the country<\/strong>\u00a0and evolves statistical standards and is responsible for the conduct of large scale sample surveys in diverse fields on All India basis.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0<strong>under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation<\/strong>\u00a0and is headed by a Director-General assisted by 5 Additional Director Generals.<\/li>\n<li>It has\u00a0<strong>five divisions<\/strong>\u00a0namely National Accounts Division (NAD), Social Statistics Division (SSD), Economic Statistics Division (ESD), Coordination and Publications Division (CAP) and Training Division.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color:
