{"id":9015,"date":"2020-07-16T14:31:24","date_gmt":"2020-07-16T09:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=9015"},"modified":"2020-07-16T14:31:24","modified_gmt":"2020-07-16T09:01:24","slug":"srebrenica-massacre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/srebrenica-massacre\/","title":{"rendered":"Srebrenica massacre"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"hero-section\" data-type=\"type-1\">\n<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"page-title\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Relevance: mains: G.S paper I: World History<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-eng.dhakatribune.com\/uploads\/2020\/07\/int-l-bosnia-muslims-mourn-their-dead-25-years-after-srebrenica-massacre-1594461598788.JPG\" alt=\"Bosnia Muslims mourn their dead 25 years after Srebrenica massacre ...\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<\/section>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u2022 On July 11, commemoration services were held at the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial and Cemetery in remembrance of the victims of the Srebrenica massacre.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 During this ceremony, bodies of nine victims that were recently identified were buried in the cemetery.<\/p>\n<p><b>About:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1991 threw the southeastern and central Europe in chaos and led to violent inter-ethnic wars in the region over the next few years.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<strong> In many ways, the violence perpetrated against Bosniaks or Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica, a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina in southeastern Europe was a result of this regional conflict.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Bosnian War began in 1992, witnessed a period of displacement and ethnic cleansing of Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats by the Bosnian Serb army and paramilitary forces.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bosnian Serb forces targeted Srebrenica in a campaign to seize control of a block of territory in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Bosnian Serb military command formally ordered the operation, code-named Krivaja 95, that culminated in the massacre.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Srebrenica massacre started in 1995 when Commander Ratko Mladi\u0107 occupied the town of Srebrenica.
