{"id":8989,"date":"2020-07-15T14:07:21","date_gmt":"2020-07-15T08:37:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=8989"},"modified":"2020-07-15T14:07:21","modified_gmt":"2020-07-15T08:37:21","slug":"green-railway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/green-railway\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Railway"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"hero-section\" data-type=\"type-1\">\n<header class=\"entry-header\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Relevance: Prelims: Economy<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Untitled-design-1-9-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"Indian Railways Will Become World's 1st 100% 'Green Railways'; Rs ...\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<\/section>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u2022 Ministry of Railways, with a goal of transforming Indian Railways into Green Railways (Net Zero Carbon Emission) by 2030 has taken a number of major initiatives towards combating climate change.<\/p>\n<p><b>About:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Railway Electrification: Indian Railways has completed electrification of more than 40,000 Route km (RKM) (63% of BG routes) in which 18,605 km electrification work has been done during 2014-20.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<strong> Green certification for installations\/stations:<\/strong> Indian Railways has also acquired Green Certification from CIII to 7 Production Units (PUs), 39 Workshops, 6 Diesel sheds and 1 Stores depot. 14 Railway Stations and 21 other buildings\/ campuses have also been Green certified.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fitting bio toilets in coaches: A total of 69,000 coaches have been fitted with more than 2,44,000 bio-toilets in Indian Railways.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<strong> Roof top Solar panels:<\/strong> Indian Railways is working to harness the potential of 500 Mega Watt (MW) energy through roof top Solar panels (Developer model).
