{"id":8696,"date":"2020-06-19T19:51:11","date_gmt":"2020-06-19T14:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=8696"},"modified":"2020-06-19T19:51:11","modified_gmt":"2020-06-19T14:21:11","slug":"khelo-india-state-centres-of-excellence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/khelo-india-state-centres-of-excellence\/","title":{"rendered":"Khelo India State Centres of Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"hero-section\" data-type=\"type-1\">\n<header class=\"entry-header\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Relevance: Prelims: National: Governance<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fresherslive.com\/assets-images\/current-affairs\/2020\/jun\/18\/sports-ministry-to-establish-khelo-india-state-centres-of-excellence.jpg\" alt=\"Sports Ministry to establish Khelo India State Centres of Excellence\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<\/section>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u2022 The Sports Ministry is all set to establish Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCE) under the ministry\u2019s flagship, Khelo India Scheme to enhance India\u2019s Olympic performance.<\/p>\n<p><b>About:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 One KISCE will be identified in each state and union territory, with an effort to create a robust sporting ecosystem in the entire country.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In the first leg, <strong>the Ministry has identified state-owned sports facilities in eight states of India, including, Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Telengana and the north east states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland which will be upgraded into KISCE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The State and Union Territory will run the centre and build capacity to turn it into the world-class sporting facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 They will be responsible for all aspects of management of the centre including, boarding, lodging and maintenance, while funds for expert coaches, supporting staff, equipments, infrastructure will be extended through the Khelo India Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The eight centres will be given a grant based on the actual amount finalised as per the requirement indicated after a comprehensive gap analysis study.
