{"id":8426,"date":"2020-06-05T12:58:37","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T07:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=8426"},"modified":"2020-06-05T12:58:37","modified_gmt":"2020-06-05T07:28:37","slug":"india-and-bhutan-cooperation-on-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/india-and-bhutan-cooperation-on-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"India and Bhutan Cooperation on Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"hero-section\" data-type=\"type-1\" data-alignment=\"left\">\n<header class=\"entry-header\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Relevance: Prelims: Environment<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/media\/2020\/6\/4\/9\/10\/29\/BHUTANN.jpg\" alt=\"The Union Cabinet has given its approval for signing the MoU ...\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<\/section>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u2022 The Union Cabinet has given its approval for signing the MoU between the Government of India and Bhutan on Cooperation in the areas of Environment.<\/p>\n<p><b>About:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The MoU will cover the following areas of the environment:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>(1) Air; <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>(2) Waste; <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>(3) Chemical Management; <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>(4) Climate Change; and () Any other areas jointly decided upon.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 This MoU shall enter into force on the date of signature and shall continue to remain in force for a period of ten years.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 It will facilitate exchange of best practices and technical knowhow through both public and private sectors and shall contribute to sustainable development. It provides the possibility for joint projects in areas of mutual interest. However, no significant employment generation is envisaged.<\/p>\n<p><b>Background:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A MoU was signed between the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Ministry of Environment, India and the National Environment Commission (NEC) of Bhutan in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 This MoU expired in 2016.
