We describe some of these terms.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Agender\u202f<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Not having a gender or identifying with a gender. They may describe themselves as being gender neutral or genderless.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Bigender\u202f<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A person who fluctuates between traditionally \u201cmale\u201d and \u201cfemale\u201d gender-based behaviours and identities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Cisgender<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">A person whose gender identity and biological sex assigned at birth are the same. For\u00a0example\u00a0they were born biologically as a male, and express their gender as male.\u202f\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Gender Expression<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The external display of one\u2019s gender, through a combination of how they dress, how they act and other factors, generally measured on scales of masculinity and femininity.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/image.slidesharecdn.com\/sexual-and-gender-identity-lesson-ppt-151027132238-lva1-app6891\/95\/sexual-andgenderidentitylessonppt-7-638.jpg?cb=1445952278\" alt=\"Sexual and-gender-identity-lesson-ppt\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Gender Fluid<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A mix of boy and girl. A person who is gender fluid may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more man some days, and more woman other days.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Genderqueer<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A gender identity label often used by people who do not identify with being a man or a woman, or as an umbrella term for many gender non-conforming or non-binary identities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Intersex<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A person born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn\u2019t seem to fit the typical definitions of female or male. For example, a person might be born appearing to be female on the\u00a0outside, but\u00a0having mostly male-typical anatomy on the inside.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Gender Variant<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Someone\u00a0who either by nature or by choice does not conform to gender-based expectations of society<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Mx.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Is a title (e.g. Mr., Ms., etc.) that is gender neutral. Pronounced\u202fmiks, (similar to\u00a0Ms)\u202fit is often the option of choice for folks who do not identify as cisgender.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Third Gender<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A term for a person who does not identify with either man or woman, but identifies with another gender. This gender category is used by societies that recognise three or more genders,\u00a0both contemporary and historic, and is also a conceptual term meaning different things to different people who use it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Transgender<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A person who lives as a member of a gender other than that expected based on sex assigned at birth.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Non-Binary<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Non-binary is an umbrella term for people whose gender is not just male or female, Dr. Powell explains. And (staying on the theme) this word may have different meanings to different people. \u201cNon-binary is anyone&#8230; outside of gender, or someone who is transgender, or people who don\u2019t fall strictly within the binary at all,\u201d Dr. Powell says.
