{"id":7565,"date":"2020-04-18T14:59:43","date_gmt":"2020-04-18T09:29:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=7565"},"modified":"2020-04-18T14:59:43","modified_gmt":"2020-04-18T09:29:43","slug":"what-is-covsack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/what-is-covsack\/","title":{"rendered":"WHAT IS COVSACK?"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"hero-section\" data-type=\"type-1\" data-alignment=\"left\">\n<header class=\"entry-header\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Relevance: Prelims: Defence and security<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/currentaffairs.adda247.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/15102840\/qSD-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DRDO develops kiosk &quot;COVSACK&quot; for COVID-19 sample collection\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<\/section>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u2022 The Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Hyderabad has added another product to the portfolio of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to combat the coronavirus by developing the \u2018COVID-19 Sample Collection Kiosk\u2019 (COVSACK).<\/p>\n<p><b>About:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The COVSACK is a kiosk through which healthcare workers can take coronavirus samples from suspected infected patients.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The patient walks into the kiosk and a nasal\/oral swab is taken by healthcare professionals from outside through the built-in gloves, according to a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The kiosk is automatically disinfected without the need for human involvement, making the process free of infection spread.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The shielding screen of the kiosk cabin protects the healthcare worker from the aerosols\/droplet transmission while taking the sample. This reduces the need for frequent PPE change by healthcare workers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quick disinfection:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The system is ready for the next use in less than two minutes.
