\u2022 China has sparked a major maritime confrontation with Indonesia near the South China Sea with dozens of Chinese fishing vessels, along with a coast guard escort, entering waters off the Natuna Islands, which are within Indonesia\u2019s exclusive economic zone but are also claimed by China.<\/p>\n

About:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u2022 The Natuna Regency is an archipelago<\/strong> of 272 islands located in the south part of the South China Sea in the Natuna Sea.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Quiz<\/p>\n

\u2022 It is part of the larger Tudjuh Archipelago, off the northwest coast of Borneo.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Administratively, the islands constitute a regency within the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Maritime administration and Chinese claim:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u2022 Indonesia\u2019s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) off the coast of Natuna is slightly overlapped by China\u2019s widely disputed South China Sea claim.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Indonesia\u2019s EEZ extends 200 nautical miles (370 km) from its shores, which around Natuna means it is slightly intersected by China\u2019s Nine-Dash Line, defining its widely disputed claim to most of the South China Sea.<\/p>\n
