{"id":6457,"date":"2020-02-22T17:14:13","date_gmt":"2020-02-22T11:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=6457"},"modified":"2020-02-22T17:14:13","modified_gmt":"2020-02-22T11:44:13","slug":"restructured-weather-based-crop-insurance-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/restructured-weather-based-crop-insurance-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Relevance: Prelims\/Mains: G.S paper III: Economy\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/farms.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6459\" src=\"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/farms.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/farms.jpg 448w, https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/farms-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/farms-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/farms-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved revamping of \u201cPradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)\u201d and \u201cRestructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS)\u201d to address the existing challenges in implementation of Crop Insurance Schemes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allocation of business to Insurance Companies to be done for three years (Both PMFBY\/RWBCIS).<\/li>\n<li>Option shall be given to States\/UTs to choose Scale of Finance or district level Value of Notional Average Yield (NAY) i.e. Minimum Support Price (MSP) as Sum Insured for any district crop combination (Both PMFBY\/RWBCIS).<\/li>\n<li>Central Subsidy under PMFBY\/RWBCIS to be limited for premium rates upto 30% for unirrigated areas\/crops and 25% for irrigated areas\/crops. Districts having 50% or more irrigated area will be considered as irrigated area\/district (Both PMFBY\/RWBCIS).<\/li>\n<li>Enrolment under the Scheme to be made voluntary for all farmers (Both PMFBY\/RWBCIS).<\/li>\n<li>Central Share in Premium Subsidy to be increased to 90% for North Eastern States from the existing sharing pattern of 50:50 (Both PMFBY\/RWBCIS).<\/li>\n<li>Provisioning of at least 3% of the total allocation for the Scheme to be made by Government of India and Implementing State Governments for administrative expenses.
