{"id":6290,"date":"2020-02-12T18:13:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T12:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=6290"},"modified":"2020-02-12T18:13:00","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T12:43:00","slug":"ayush-ministry-to-take-preventive-measures-on-coronavirus-infection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/ayush-ministry-to-take-preventive-measures-on-coronavirus-infection\/","title":{"rendered":"AYUSH ministry to take preventive measures on coronavirus infection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Relevance: Mains: G.S paper II: Governance: health<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Ayush.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6291\" src=\"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Ayush.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Ayush.png 750w, https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Ayush-150x90.png 150w, https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Ayush-300x180.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Context:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 2019 Novel Coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, is a new respiratory virus that has not been previously identified.<br \/>\n\u2022 The Ministry of AYUSH issued an \u201cAdvisory for Corona virus\u201d, \u201cbased on the Indian traditional medicine practices Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>What is the advice on Ayurveda?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ayurveda advice included drinking \u201cShadang Paniya (Musta, Parpat, Usheer, Chandan,Udeechya and Nagar) processed water (10 gm powder boiled in 1 litre water, until it reduces to half)\u201d, and taking \u201cAgastya Harityaki 5 gm, twice a day with warm water\u201d, \u201cSamshamani Vati 500 mg twice a day\u201d, \u201cTrikatu (Pippali, Marich &amp; Shunthi) powder 5 gm and Tulasi 3-5 leaves (boiled in 1 litre water, until it reduces to \u00bd litre\u2026)\u201d, and \u201cPratimarsa Nasya: Instill two drops of Anu taila\/Sesame oil in each nostril daily in the morning\u201d.<br \/>\n\u2022 The ministry cautioned that its \u201cadvocacy is for information only and shall be adopted in consultation with registered Ayurveda practitioners only\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>What does the Ministry say on Homoeopathy?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ministry said that the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, after a meeting of its Scientific Advisory Board had recommended \u201cthat homoeopathy medicine Arsenicum album 30 could be taken as prophylactic medicine against Coronavirus infections\u2026 daily in empty stomach for three days\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What about Unani?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ministry listed several medicines, including \u201cSharbat Unnab 10-20 ml twice a day\u201d, \u201cTiryaq Arba 3-5 g twice a day\u201d, \u201cTiryaq Nazla 5 g twice a day\u201d, and \u201cKhamira Marwareed 3-5 g once a day\u201d.<br \/>\n\u2022 It also advised \u201cmassage on scalp and chest with Roghan Baboona\/Roghan Mom\/Kafoori Balm\u201d, and to \u201capply Roghan Banafsha gently in the nostrils\u201d, among other things.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Can these measures help?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>However, it is important to note the following about the mysterious and deadly coronavirus that has now infected 4,500 people and killed over 100, mainly in China, but elsewhere too.<br \/>\n\u2022 The 2019 Novel Coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, is a new respiratory virus that has not been previously identified.<br \/>\n\u2022 Virologists and public health officials around the world are working to identify the source of the 2019-nCoV. The virus probably originally came from an animal source, but is now spreading from human to human.<br \/>\n\u2022 Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, some of which cause illness in humans, and and some others circulate among animals, including camels, cats and bats.
