{"id":5567,"date":"2020-01-13T11:46:18","date_gmt":"2020-01-13T06:16:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=5567"},"modified":"2020-01-13T11:46:18","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T06:16:18","slug":"prelims-current-affairs-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/prelims-current-affairs-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Prelims: Current Affairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Presumption of constitutionality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Supreme Court declined urgent hearing on a plea seeking to declare the Citizenship Amendment Act as constitutional and said that there was already a \u201cpresumption of constitutionality\u201d to a law passed by Parliament.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The term \u2018presumption of constitutionality\u2019 is a legal principle that is used by courts during statutory<br \/>\ninterpretation \u2014 the process by which courts interpret and apply a law passed by the legislature, such as Parliament.<\/li>\n<li>It is the legal principle that the judiciary should presume statutes enacted by the legislature to be constitutional, unless the law is clearly unconstitutional or a fundamental right is implicated.<\/li>\n<li>The presumption is not absolute, however, and does not stand when there is a gross violation of the Constitution. There are limitations to the doctrine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Union Minister for Home Affairs dedicated National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to the Nation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in) was launched on pilot basis in August, 2019<\/li>\n<li>It enables filing of all cyber crimes with specific focus on crimes against women, children, particularly child pornography, child sex abuse material, online content pertaining to rapes\/gang rapes, etc.<\/li>\n<li>This portal will improve coordination amongst the law enforcement agencies of different States, districts and police stations for dealing with cyber crimes in a coordinated and effective manner.<\/li>\n<li>So far, more than 700 police districts and more than 3,900 police stations have been connected with this Portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>National Youth Festival 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why in news?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and State Government of Uttar Pradesh are jointly organizing 23rd National Youth Festival (NYF) 2020 at Lucknow from 12th to 16th January, 2020.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Government has been organizing National Youth Festival (NYF) since 1995.<\/li>\n<li>The objective of NYF is to provide a platform to bring the youth of the country together in an attempt to provide them opportunity to showcase their talents in various activities.<\/li>\n<li>The theme of the 23rd National Youth Festival 2020 is \u2018FIT YOUTH FIT INDIA\u2019<\/li>\n<li>NYF 2020 would have around 6000 participants (volunteers from NYKS, NSS and local youth) from each State of the country.<\/li>\n<li>The NYF 2020 will be inaugurated on 12th January on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the great Youth icon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presumption of constitutionality Why in news?
