{"id":5364,"date":"2020-01-03T15:02:32","date_gmt":"2020-01-03T09:32:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/?p=5364"},"modified":"2020-01-03T15:02:32","modified_gmt":"2020-01-03T09:32:32","slug":"national-infrastructure-pipeline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triumphias.com\/blog\/national-infrastructure-pipeline\/","title":{"rendered":"National Infrastructure Pipeline:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Relevance: Mains: G.S paper III: Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The NIP task force appears to have gone project-by-project, assessing each for viability and relevance in consultation with the States.<br \/>\n\u2022 Considering that the NIP will be like a window to the future, a constant review becomes paramount if this is not to degenerate into a mere collation and listing of projects.<br \/>\n\u2022 A periodic review, as promised by the Finance Ministry, is necessary.<br \/>\n\u2022 The government\u2019s push on infrastructure development will not only enable ease of living \u2014 such as metro trains in cities and towns \u2014 but also create jobs and increase demand for primary commodities such as cement and steel.<br \/>\n\u2022 From this perspective, this push to invest in infrastructure is welcome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Challenges ahead:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identifying the projects to be put on the pipeline is the easy part. Implementing and commissioning them will be the more difficult one.<br \/>\n\u2022 There are a few hurdles that the NIP task force needs to watch out for.<br \/>\n\u2022 The financing plan assumes that the Centre and the States will fund 39% each while the private sector will chip in with 22% of the outlay.<br \/>\n\u2022 Going by the present fiscal situation, it will be no small challenge for the Centre to raise \u20b939 lakh crore, even if it is over the next five years.
