However, despite such advancements, the transgender community continues to grapple with systemic marginalization, cultural exclusion, and economic vulnerability.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Understanding_Transgender_Identity_A_Social_Construction\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Understanding Transgender Identity: A Social Construction<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Sociologically, gender is not merely a biological trait but a <strong>socially constructed identity<\/strong>. Treatments often cost <strong>\u20b92\u20135 lakh<\/strong>, and while <strong>Ayushman Bharat TG Plus<\/strong> provides insurance, it suffers from poor outreach and coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The lack of <strong>mental health support<\/strong> exacerbates vulnerability. Many transgender persons suffer from depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation due to <strong>chronic rejection, abuse, and isolation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"4\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong> Gaps in Social Protection and Legal Implementation<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">While the <strong>Garima Greh scheme<\/strong> offers shelter homes and the <strong>SMILE scheme<\/strong> aims at rehabilitation and skill development, they remain underfunded and poorly implemented. Issues like <strong>police harassment<\/strong>, <strong>delayed ID certifications<\/strong>, and <strong>lack of state-level coordination<\/strong> hinder the efficacy of these programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Moreover, <strong>intersectional exclusion<\/strong>\u2014based on caste, class, region, and age\u2014further compounds the problems of transgender individuals.
