<strong>since Independence<\/strong>, <strong>a Dalit man, 24-year-old Kirti Chauhan, received a haircut from a village barber. <\/strong>While it may appear ordinary at first glance, this act represented the end of an age-old practice of caste-based discrimination that had denied Dalits such basic services for nearly eight decades.
