Out of 484.8\u202fGW capacity, <strong>242.8\u202fGW<\/strong> comes from renewables and large hydro<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Installed renewable capacity grew from <strong>81.6\u202fGW in 2015<\/strong> to nearly <strong>198\u202fGW in 2024<\/strong>, at a CAGR of 10.4%.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">India is now the <strong>world\u2019s 3rd-largest solar power generator<\/strong>, surpassing Japan in 2023, with solar contributing significantly to global mix (India\u2019s share ~5.9%).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Still, actual generation tells another story: in FY\u202f2024, total electricity generated was <strong>2,030\u202fTWh<\/strong>, with <strong>renewables contributing only ~240\u202fTWh<\/strong>, compared to <strong>1,517\u202fTWh<\/strong> from coal\u2014renewables account for <strong>just ~24% of actual energy supply<\/strong>. These support domestic firms like Suzlon, Inox, and Adani Wind while limiting foreign imports.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Production-linked Incentives (PLI) and capital allocation schemes have expanded solar cell manufacturing capacity to <strong>\u224830\u202fGW\/year by March 2025<\/strong>, cutting China dependency.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Tariff and Clean Energy Policy Shifts<\/strong>: India recently <strong>dismantled central renewable energy pricing pools<\/strong> to accelerate power purchase agreements and de-risk stranded projects.
