background: whitesmoke; box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; outline: 0px !important; margin: 0in 22.5pt 7.5pt 22.5pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; color: #282828;\">The State government has approved KSDMA\u2019s updated \u2018Orange book of disaster management \u2014 Kerala \u2014 SOP and emergency support functions plan\u2019 and a new, separate document, \u2018Monsoon preparedness and emergency response plan.\u2019 The revision is meant to enhance the capacity of government departments to handle emergencies effectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 19.5pt; background: whitesmoke; box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; outline: 0px !important; margin: 0in 22.5pt 7.5pt 22.5pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; color: #282828;\">Named so for its orange-coloured outer cover, the orange book was earlier known as the \u2018Handbook on disaster management \u2014 Volume 2 \u2014 emergency operations centres and emergency support functions plan.\u2019 It describes incidence response mechanisms to be adopted at the State, district and taluk level.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"line-height: 18.75pt; background: whitesmoke; box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; outline: 0px !important; margin: 13.5pt 22.5pt 7.5pt 22.5pt;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Space_debris_too\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15.0pt; -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; outline: 0px !important; margin: 0in 22.5pt 7.5pt 22.5pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; color: #282828;\">Containing information on emergency response assets available across the State, the orange book explains the SOP for rainfall, flood, cyclone, tsunami, high waves (swell waves, storm surges, \u2018kallakadal\u2019), landslip, petrochemical accidents and even mishaps caused by space debris (meteorites, falling spacecraft parts, etc.).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 19.5pt;
