Namrata Jain says that a Naxal-triggered blast that hit the police station in her town encouraged her to willingly join the civil services to serve the poor in the Maoist-affected area.<\/em><\/p>\n

A 25-year-old woman, Namrata Jain belongs to one of the worst-hit Naxal regions in the country Dantewada district in Chhatisgarh. She has secured the 12th rank in the civil services exam, the result of which was declared recently by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).<\/p>\n

Her Attempts to Clear UPSC Exam<\/strong><\/p>\n

In her first attempt, she got ranked 99th in the 2016 civil services exam. She got Indian Police Service and is undergoing training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always wanted to be a collector. When I was in Class 8, a collector woman intrigued me. At that time only, I had decided to become a collector\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n

What inspired Namrata?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The place I come from is affected by Naxalism. People there lack basic facility like education, internet, etc. I want to work for the welfare of the people of my state, said Jain, who is hopeful of getting Indian Administrative Service (IAS) this time.<\/p>\n

Namrata wants to bring development to Dantewada because she believes that it could be the best way to check Naxalism there.<\/p>\n

Her father is a local businessman, the mother is a housewife and her brother aspires to become a chartered accountant.<\/p>\n

Namrata studied till Class 10 in Dantewada. Thereafter, she went to Bhilai in Chhattisgarh where she completed her Bachelor of Engineering.<\/p>\n

Besides the lack of facilities in her town, she did not stop herself from cracking and preparing for the exam.<\/p>\n

Namrata says, “Studying at Triumph IAS under the guidance of Vikash Ranjan Sir was a great experience.”<\/p>\n

Namrata Jain believes technology has broken barriers, shortened distances and made learning accessible, convenient and easier.<\/p>\n
