While positioned as a step toward <strong>peace and mobility,<\/strong> the move has <strong>instead deepened mistrust, caused civilian injuries<\/strong>, and led to yet another <strong>wave of displacement.<\/strong> This crisis offers a critical lens into how State policies, identity politics, and ethnic conflicts interact in complex social settings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Understanding_the_Ground_Reality_in_Manipur\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Understanding the Ground Reality in Manipur<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>The \u201cfree movement\u201d policy by the Home Minister <\/strong>has triggered <strong>violent clashes<\/strong>, notably in the <strong>Kangpokpi district, leading to over 100 injuries and one civilian death<\/strong>. Oommen <\/strong>have emphasized that <strong>regionalism in India often arises from ethno-political alienation, not just economic backwardness<\/strong>. <strong>In Manipur, the Kuki-Zo and Meitei groups have a history of competing territorial claims.
