The Environment Protection Act of 1986 became effective after the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, addressing gaps in existing legislation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Constitutional provisions grant power and rights to citizens for environmental protection:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Article 48A<\/strong> emphasizes the State&#8217;s duty to protect the environment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Article 51A (g)<\/strong> underscores citizens&#8217;
