infrastructure projects worth Rs 11 lakh crore. These projects were assessed during the 55th NPG meeting, which was held on September 14, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:277\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The NPG is a multi-ministerial body that meets every fortnight to review and appraise infrastructure projects. It was constituted under the PM GatiShakti initiative to ensure multi-modality, synchronization of efforts, and comprehensive development in and around project areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-sourcepos=\"7:1-7:146\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The maximum number of projects recommended by the NPG are related to roads, railways, and urban development. Some of the notable projects include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-sourcepos=\"9:1-12:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:116\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Roads:<\/strong>\u00a0Construction of new highways, widening of existing highways, and construction of bypasses and flyovers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"10:1-10:132\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Railways:<\/strong>\u00a0Electrification of railway lines, construction of new railway lines, and modernization of existing railway stations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"11:1-12:0\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Urban development:<\/strong>\u00a0Construction of new roads, bridges, and flyovers, development of smart cities, and improvement of public transportation systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:156\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The NPG&#8217;s approval is required before clearance of the project by the Public Investment Board (PIB) or Department of Expenditure under the finance ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-sourcepos=\"15:1-15:328\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The PM GatiShakti initiative is a national infrastructure master plan that aims to develop an integrated infrastructure network to reduce logistics costs and boost economic growth. The NPG plays a key role in implementing this initiative by ensuring that infrastructure projects are planned and executed in a coordinated manner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-sourcepos=\"17:1-17:247\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The NPG&#8217;s approval of these 106 projects is a significant milestone in the implementation of the PM GatiShakti initiative.
