Acknowledging the pressing need for their preservation, India took the lead in <strong>1973 with the visionary Project Tiger<\/strong>, a milestone initiative dedicated to safeguarding big cats and their habitats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">The recent <strong>Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE)<\/strong> of tiger reserves in India for 2022 (Fifth Cycle) conducted by the Wildlife Institute of India and the <strong>National Tiger Conservation Authority<\/strong> presents a mixed assessment of progress and challenges.
