Why in news?

  • Election Commission of India will host the 10th Annual Meeting of the Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA) in New Delhi.

Key facts:

  • Election Commission of India will take over the Chair of the forum for the year 2020.
  • On the occasion, International Conference on the theme ‘Strengthening Institutional Capacity’ is also being organized.
  • ECI will also renew Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in the field of election management with the Independent
    Election Commission of Afghanistan.
    The international delegates will also attend the National Voters’ Day Celebrations in New Delhi on 25th of January.

About:

  • The International Conference is being organized with the purpose of sharing the experience of different Election Management Bodies, International Institutions and Experts.
  • The forum was established at the 3rd Conference of Heads of Election Management Bodies of SAARC Countries held at New Delhi in 2012.

Why in news?

  • Philanthropy arms of top corporates, including the Tatas, Mahindras, Godrejs and Premjis, announced a partnership to minimise the climate change impact.

About:

  • The India Climate Collaborative (ICC) will be working to strengthen the climate community locally, build a climate narrative and drive solutions that will ensure both the natural world and people thrive.
  • The announcement comes amid an increased conversation on climate change, with the 50th session of the World Economic Forum in Davos generating the maximum flutter, which has also seen US President Donald Trump calling the greens “prophets of doom”.
  • The ICC seeks to build a collaborative platform for diverse voices, innovative solutions, and collective investments, the statement said, without quantifying the money which the corporates are pooling together for the platform.
